Promoting the social, professional, and economic status of retired and active school employees and working in cooperation with the Louisiana Retired Teachers' Association (LRTA) and other organized groups in matters of interest to retired school employees, active school personnel, and parish and state public schools.
The St. Tammany Parish Retired School Employees’ Association (STPRSEA) meets regularly throughout the year to provide opportunities for retirees from the school system to hear about the latest local and state retirement issues and to enjoy fun and fellowship with new and former friends.

First Meeting of the School Year Held Sept. 13
The St. Tammany Parish Retired School Employees’ Association (STPRSEA) held its first meeting of the school year on September 13, 2012, at the David Treen Technology Center on 2024 Livingston Street in Mandeville. Close to 100 people attended.
St. Tammany Public School System Superintendent Trey Folse gave an overview of the past year and reviewed plans for the year ahead. STPRSEA President Marian Arrowsmith brought members up-to-date on a variety of topics.

November 1st Meeting Group Honored
STPRSEA members who are U. S. Armed Services veterans are thanked for their service at the November 1 meeting of the STPRSEA to commemorate Veterans' Day later in the month. Number One ranking for teachers' retirement system investment return
Baton Rouge - The Teachers' Retirement System of Louisiana (TRSL) ended the fiscal year with a 26.76 percent return on its investments, making it the highest performing fund among public pension plans with assets greater than $1.0 billion, according to the Wilshire Trust Universe Comparison Service (TUCS).
"We had tremendous performance from our investments. This is our strongest finish in 25 years," said Philip Griffith, TRSL chief investment officer. "The diversification of our portfolio allowed us to capitalize on the improving markets we saw earlier this year." Click here for more information.
RETIRED SCHOOL EMPLOYEES HOST LEGISLATORS FORUM

The “Meet Your Legislators” forum took place at the Treen Technology Center in Mandeville, providing an opportunity for members and legislators to get to know each other and exchange thoughts about potential legislation regarding education and retirement issues.

Scholarship Winner Is Recognized
Lakeshore High School graduating senior Allison Steed (center) is honored with the annual STPRSEA scholarship given to an outstanding senior who plans to pursue a career in education. Allison's scholarship will be used to help defray some college tuition expenses at University of Southeastern Louisiana, where she intends to study elementary education.
